Johan Van Nimwegen
Johan Van Nimwegen was born in Holland and was “made in America,” coming to the U.S. in1947. He grew up in West Los Angeles, California, and received his B.S. in business from the University of Southern California and his MBA from California State University.
Johan founded and ran several companies that produced electronic sub-assemblies, components, and data transfer equipment for the Space Shuttle. He moved to Sequim in 2001 and joined NDLSA in 2002. Johan was President of NDLSA from 2004 to 2008 and a member of the board until 2012. Johan was a member of the board of directors of several disabled organizations and foundations, including The Cripped Children’s Society, the Courage Center, and the Braille Institute. Johan is one of the original founders of KSQM 91.5 FM in Sequim. Johan is a long-time member of Rotary (43+ years), a board of director’s member of the Port Angeles Symphony, and a former commodore of the Sequim Bay Yacht club.
