Steve Reed, an NDLSA Board member since 2008, was president from 2009 through 2012. He chaired the Maintenance and Restoration Committee, participates in work parties, is a Keeper driver and helps manage the Association’s grant application program. He serves on the Boards of the Friends of the Dungeness Wildlife Refuge and the Port Townsend Summer Band. Steve worked for the U.S. Geological Survey as a geologist on the unmanned lunar program, the Mars orbital program, and as a member of the Apollo Geology team. A retired consultant, his 40-year career was focused on environmental aspects of ground water systems. He investigated the timing, causes and effects of ground water pollution in projects throughout the U.S. and testified as an expert in numerous litigation cases providing opinions developed during those investigations. He and his wife, Jean, enjoy both domestic and foreign travel; have 3 children and 11 grandchildren; and live in Port Townsend.
